Hi, I'm Joaquin! I specialize in iOS while also enjoying web and backend development, and pretty much anything that involves zeros and ones. I don't just code, I like taking the time to think deeply about architectures, the technologies I use, and systems in general. I love creating products where good design translates into simplicity and usability. When I'm not programming, I'm usually learning something new, going for a run, planning a trip, or coming up with some crazy project. Welcome to my little corner on the web.
Ombú Project is a new space to understand the financial world. A tool where users can explore companies, analyze data, and share their investment ideas, combining technology, design, and collaboration.
For the Ombú project, I need an API to get data from publicly traded companies. At least to start, I’m interested in balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow data. Currently, there are several alternatives, but all are paid, and the free versions available for development are very limited. That’s why I decided to roll up my sleeves and try building my own API.
Lately I’ve been struggling to stay organized and focused on the important tasks of the day. Since I wanted to do something about it, I remembered that years ago I had built a web app for exactly that: organizing my day-to-day. After digging through the depths of my laptop, I found that forgotten side project, and guess what? It still works perfectly. This time, I decided to make it public in case it’s useful to someone else too.
I’ve been hearing the idea of Server Driven UI (SDUI) for a while. I’ve read articles from people who work at companies like Spotify and Airbnb that are implementing it and, somedays at work, some teams brought it up on calls as something that would be nice to use.
